State to Benjamin Hendrix a grant 100 Acres

To all to whom these present shall come greeting.

Know ye that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted and paid into our Treasury by Benjamin Hendrix have given and granted and by these presents tdo give and grant unto the said Benjamin Hendricks a tract of land containing one hundred acres lying and of being in our county of Wilkes Lying on Stoney Fork Beginning on a poplar running West cropping the creek forty four chains seventy two links to an ash, then south croping the creek & branch twenty two chains thirty six links to a stake thence East forty four chains seventy two links to a stake thence North twnety two chains thirty six links to the Beginning.

State to James Baker a Grant for 320 acres land

STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA No 686

To all to whom these presents shall come greeting

Know yet that we for and in consideration of the sum of fifty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted, paid into our treasury by James Baker have given and granted amt by these presents do give and grant unto the said James Baker a tract of land containing three hundred and twenty acres lying and being in our couty of Wilkes Beginning at and oak near a branch that runs from his improvement into Buffalo Thence south two hundred and twenty six poles to a white oak on the east side of Buffalow. Thence east two hundred and twenty six poles to a Double Chestnut in a rich cove of the Negro Mountain and then North two hundred and twenty six poles to a Buckeye in the head of Naked Creek thence west two hundred and twenty six poles to the first station.

As by the plat hereunto annixed doth appears; together, with all woods, waters, mines minerals to hold to the said James Baker his heirs and afsigns forever; yielding and paying to us such sums of money, yearly, or otherwise as our general assembly from time to time may dirrect, provided always that the said James Baker shall cause this grant to be registered in the Registers office of our said County of Wilkes within twelve months from the date hereof otherside, the same shall be void and of no effict.

In testimony whereof, we have caused these our letters to be made patent and our Great seal to be hereunto affixed, with commander in chief at Kinston the twenty second day of September in the Tenth year of our independence and in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five.
