This Deed made this 2nd day of January, 1924, by L.F. and wife, of Clay County and State of North Carolina of the first part, to J. P. Hendrix and L.A. Hendrix of Clay County and State of North Carolina of the second Part.
WITNESSETH, that said parties of the first part, in consideration of ONE THOUSAND ($1000.00) Dollars, to them paid by said L.A. Hendrix and J.P. Hendrix, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, have bargained and sold, and by these presents do grant, bargain, sell and convey to said parties of the second part, ---- heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land in Clay County, state of North Carolina, adjoining the lands of L.A. Smith, J. M. Sullivan, Gad Nelson, T.C. Phillips, and J. P. Hendrix and others, and bounded as follows, viz:
BEGINNING on a stake, corner of J. M. Sullivan and Gad Nelson land and runs N. 55 1/2 E. 59 poles to a stake; thence N. 9 E. 11 poles to a stake; thence N. 35 E. 4 poles to a stake; thence N. 8 W. 81 poles to a chestnut; thence N. 40 E. 8 poles to a stake; thence N. 18 1/2 W. 56 poles to a stake; thence South 50 poles to a black jack; thence West 80 poles to a black gum; thence S. 35 W. 12 poles to a stake; thence S. 47 E. 25 poles to a black oak; thence 3. 35 W. 61 1/2 poles to a maple; thence S. 7 1/2 poles to a stake; thence S. 10 W. 7 1/2 poles to a chestnut oak; thence S. 75 E. 48 poles to a white oak; thence S. 50 E. 58 poles to the beginning.
Being two tracts of land deeded to L. F. Hendrix by C. T. Huges and wife and J. H. Casada and wife respectively and described in said deeds as follows:
Hughes Tract: BEGINNING on a white oak, beginning corner of Entry number 2804, and runs North 100 poles to a black gum then West 20 poles to a black gum, on a ravine; thence down said ravine with its meanders to the forks of the branch; thence down said branch with its meanders 37 poles to a stake and pointers; thence North 84 East 48 poles to the beginning, containing 25 acres more or less.
Cassada Tract: BEGINNING on a white oak on the line of No. 67 and North to a stake in the out side line of No.2804, thence with said line to a black jack, thence North 140 poles to a stake, thence with a conditional line a Southeast course to the head of a branch, known as the gold mine, thence down sd brance to the out side line of No.67, thence the cross fence to a stake on the conditional line between A.T.Ledford and Wm. Simmons, thence through the farm on the conditional line between Wilson Curtis and Wm.Simmons and corner on a stake in No.67 near Wm.Praters old home place, thence North 40 West to the beginning, containing 100 acres more or less. With the excetption of about 33 acress on the East side, beginning at a ditch near the inside line runs with said ditch to near the head of the ditch to a stake, thence a N. course to a large chestnut near the top of the ridge, thence with the to of the ridge to the outside line.
Excepting herefrom about 8 acres of the land described in said two deeds conveyed by L. F. Hendrix to Gad Nelson.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land, and all privileges and appurtenances thereto belonging, to the said J. P. Hendrix and L. A. Hendrix their heirs and assigns, to their own use and behoof forever.
And the said parties of the first part, for themselves and their heirs, executors and administrators, covenant with said parties of the second part, their heirs and assigns, that they are seized of said premises in fee and have right to convey in fee simple; that the same are free and clear from all encumbrances, and that they do hereby forever warrant and will forever deefend the said title to the same against the claims of all persons whomever.

I, J. B. Gray, Notary Public, do hereby certify that L.F. Hendrix and J. A. Hendrix, his wife, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged the due execution of the annexed Deed of Conveyance; and the said J. A. Hendrix being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily, without fear or compulsion of her said husband or any other person, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
