BEGINNING WITH ANTHONY HOGGATT
Was born 1/16/1686 or 87 in Chester County, PA, d. 1/26/1783 in Guilford Conty, NC, bur. Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery m. ca 1722 Mary Glendenning. He and his wife moved to Guilford County, NC in the late 1720s. he is mentioned in 1750 as a member of the Camp Creek MM, Louisa Co. VA, mentioned in 1753 at a member of the Cedar Creek MM, Hanover Co., VA, mentioned in 1756 and as a member of New Garden MM, Rowan Co., NC. His death is recorded at Deep River MM, NC.
Mary Glendenning was born Dec 8, 1698 in Edinborough (Edinburgh) Scotland, the daughter of David Glendenning (b. 1660 in Scotland) and Margaret Hall (b. 1662 in Scotland) who m. 6 Jan 1685 in Edinburgh Parish, Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland. Mary died Nov 17, 1780 in Guilford County, NC and was buried at the Springfield Friends Meeting Cemetery. Her death was reported in the Deep River MM, NC.
Hannah Beals was the daughter of John Beals III and Margaret Esther
Hunt, born in Fredericks County, VA 1741/1745 in Chester Co., PA. She died Feb
4 1804 in Guilford Co., NC.
Ann Thornburg was born Nov 22, 1761 in Guilford County, NC and died October 12, 1832 in Clinton, OH. She was buried at East Fork FBG, Clear Creek MM. Her father was Joseph Thornburgh and her mother was Nancy Ann Armfield. Ann had a son, Daniel Thornburgh, at the time of her marriage to Joseph.
Nathan Hockett was born Jan 25, 1791 and died ca Feb 1839 and ws buried in Indiana. He married Elizabeth Hunt April 3, 1811. It appears Nathan was removed from church records (disowned) for marrying out of unity in 1823 at Whitewater MM in Indiana.
Nathan applied for a merchant's license in Clinton County, OH in 1831.
Records show that Nathan held an estate sale on March 2, 1839 in which he attended. At that estate sale, the newspapers said that Eliza (daughter) and Jacob Shaul were "aided in setting up housekeeping with items they purchased" at that estate sale including 1 kettle, $2.25; table, $3.50; high post bedstead, $5.50; 1 mare, $40; 1 "carry plough", $4.50.
Elizabeth Hunt was born July 1, 1793, the daughter of Eliazer Hunt (12/30/1766-1846 in Hendricks Co, IN) and Nancy Ann Newby (01/15/1771-1816 in Guilford Co., NC) and died after 1843. She was buried in Indiana, possibly in Hamilton County.
Joseph M. Hockett was born ca. 1830 in Clinton Co., OH and died 1895. He was buried in Kokomo. Joseph's parents cecorded from North Carolina in the 1880 census.
Ellen M. was born April 1833 in NY (grave shows 1832) and died Nov 22, 1920 in IN from a heart attack. She was buried in Cicero Cemetery with the Hockett family.
William Lutheran Hockett was born Dec 1861 and died ca. 1939/40 and was buried in Hamilton Co. He married May 13, 1882 in Hamilton Co., IN Elizabeth Dickover, who was born ca 1847 and died May 29, 1897 in Kokomo, IN. He died at granddaughter Ruth's house on 1039 N. Beville Ave. of heart problems and was buried at Memorial Park or Washington Park in Indianapolis. William drove an oil truck in the 20's and was known as a fantastic and giving individual by his grandchildren. In fact, was more like a father to them than was Orville David. He was a very religious man, and the worst (and favorite) phrase the grandchildren could remember him saying was "dirty curr". He worshipped Lizzie and spoke of her all the time after her death.
Elizabeth was born ca 1847 and died May 29, 1897 in Kokomo, IN. Her obit is in the Kokomo Tribune. Her maiden name Dickover was actually changed from Dickhover - from German descent.
Orville Donald (sometimes mistakenly referred to as Orville David) was b. Mar 1887 IN. Rhoda Hockett (grandaughter of Orville Donald and daughter or Orville Donald) advises his name was Orville Donald, not Orville David. He died 1947 in Indianapolis, IN and is buried in Memorial Park. He owned/ran a delivery service and had a wooden leg, due to losing a leg in a trolley accident.
Rhoda Mae Brane was born Aug 6, 1889 in Marion County, IN and died 1978 in Indianapolis, IN and was buried on the east side in Indianapolis. Her grandaughter, (also Rhoda Hockett) says that her parents were John and Marilla, that she was an Eastern Star member, and that John was a Mason. One side of the family knew her nick name as "Queenie" others called her, "Hockie". She graduated from business college in Indiana (usual for women of the time) and cleaned office builddings after the divorce and ran a milk route. Later in life, she sold Avon products.
Married Virginia Broughard at Augusta Corners (owned by brother Dave). He dropped out of H.S. early to work delivering newspapers. He received his high school diploma from the navy. As a young man, he drank too much and too often, but abstained later in life and was successful in both the new and used car businesses and speculated in real estate. At the time of his death, he had retired to Florida.
Virginia Brouhard was born in 1928, the dau of Chester W. BROUHARD
Born on 2 Sep 1894 in Boone County, Indiana. Chester W. died on 13 Dec 1989
(age 95) and Ruth L. PETERS, daughter of Charles O. PETERS & Jessie B.,
in Boone County, Indiana. Born in Dec 1895 in Roston, Union Township, Boone
County, Indiana. Ruth L. died in 1963, she was 67. Virginia was a homemaker.
She suffered from various medical problems in her middle years but enjoyed better
health after she and her husband moved to Florida in their reitrement years.
David William Hockett
David William Hockett was born December 2, 1948, the second born child of Ralph Schneider and Virginia Broughard. Shortly after birth, he required brain surgery and had additional surgery at least twice as a child. As a teenager, he worked as a lot boy at his father's auto dealership and later worked in the Service Department and finally as a salesman. During the latter years of his first marriage, he was employed at Chuck Callahan Ford and Blossom Chevrolet. After his second marriage, he continued working in the auto businesses for a while and then worked as a security guard until he was hospitalized and divorced. During his third marriage, he held jobs in retail and food services. The webmaster is his ex-wife and has no further knowledge of his activites after 1989.
